Communities In Schools has been chosen to launch the Sanford Harmony partnership which is a social emotional learning program offered to at-risk students in nine communities across seven states this school year. Communities In Schools addresses both academic and nonacademic barriers to school success.
Communities In Schools Executive Vice President of Insights and Innovation, Dr. Heather Clawson, states “as an organization committed to connecting our schools and students with programs that work, the evidence-informed approach of Sanford Harmony is a natural fit for Communities In Schools.”
The Sanford Harmony program reinforces positive peer interactions among children through simple classroom activities and lesson plans. The PreK-6 Sanford Harmony program supports students’ academic and personal developmental success. Through the leadership of National University System, Sanford Harmony is being expanded to more than 1.5 million students around the country since 2014. This is occurring through a school classroom integration process and after-school programs.
